November Update

Posted by Piper - November 15th, 2013

Well, it's time I catch up with everyone.

A few of you know, I moved into a new home the last week of October. It was quite the situation, but what matters is that I am now finally living where I can actually walk outside without hearing, "What's up, baby?" or have people trying pull me into their cars. Less crime makes for less stress, and less stress means I can take on bigger workloads. This is good news and I appreciate all of the support!

So, as some of you are aware, the bulk of my Newgrounds' portfolio is repeat work done with Grant Wooley (WooleyWorld) and Sam T Nelson (Ebolaworld). While it is a joy to work with Sam T Nelson, and an immense heada-I mean pleasure to world with Grant (loooove you :P ), my chance to work with Kel-Chan, was a nice change of pace. Sometimes the work I do is completely unrelated to Newgrounds, like my part as Hanna in the popular Skyrim mod, Helgen Reborn created by Mike Hancho. Whatever it is that I may be doing, I look forward to being able to bring you guys more work and I will do my best to keep all of you posted!

Next, coming in on the last day to enter I've finally submitted my entry, First Time Rule Breaker to Newgrounds' Voice Acting Contest 11. I went through many scripts and worked really hard on this in between the moving and other things but I really feel like I was able to give this a good go and I thank everyone involved. I'm very excited to be a part of something like this and look forward to listening to all of the entries.

Anyway, I'd love it if you guys would fill me in on what's been up with you! Comment parade commence!

Well I tried to take part in the VA contest because I really wanna get better but...with job searching i had no time and sadly couldnt.

Its good to see you less stressed! Congrats!

Job searching in itself is a full time job, I can imagine trying to add a time consuming project like this would just be added stress and would get in the way. You made a good move. And in risk of sounding like a motivational poster, "hang in there!" I hope that you find a job that you are good for and a job that is good to you. Also, thank you! Have a good night (or day, whenever you're reading this.)

I would totally do VA stuff but the only stuff I could have recorded with are a shitty mic on my webcam and an even shittier mic that came with my Rock Band game ._.

I'm also in less of a mood to do anything recording wise since I found out this\/

Oh, Viper. I am so, so sorry. This just breaks my heart. I can't help but feel like crying. You must be so devastated. My advice to give since there is very little I can say, is to love her. Just make her as comfortable as you can. Let her know that it's okay to lie down. I wish I could give you a big hug. If you need anyone to talk to, I'm right here.

Oh and congrats about the move and all that stuff.

Thank you.

Thank you so much! Your words cheered me up so much ^^

Good luck with the contest! Seems like life is looking up. Btw, how/when/why did you end up learning Japanese?

About five years ago. I grew up with close family friends from Japan and had always been very interested in the country. and the language I liked how written Japanese had Chinese characters and their own written characters. I eventually decided to study and learn Japanese so I could interect with people from Japan more closely online and in person. Apart from studying at home I began studying Japanese at the Japan-America Society of Washington, DC. I haven't studied in about a year now, but I do plan to return because it could open a few more doors for me, even in the voice acting world.

Anyway. Thank you for asking and for the luck! :)

Where did you moved to? And, where did you lived to be harassed like that? :o
And, you know how to talk japanese? Argh, I feel dumb, i am japanese and barely know how to say '' i dont speak japanese''

Well I'm in the DC area (Dictrict of Columbia on the east coast of America) and in the greater DC area there are some very bad neighborhoods and very nice neighborhoods right next to each other mostly in the Southeastern part into Maryland. So I actually didn't move very far, but enough to get out of a bad area.

And yes, I can speak Japanese. I'd speak it on here, but Newgrounds doesn't accept foreign text except in the chat, and even then you can get into trouble. :/

Really? im pretty sure i have already posted somehing in Japanese text here...
oh well, good luck with your new house

Perhaps it's changed. Where did you post it, I wonder.

I am :( We've had her since she was a kitten and I was like 6.
We're planning on getting her into a vet and see if they can get em removed and see whether or not they're cancerous. If they're not then thats good. If they are....then I don't know. She lies down all the time anyways so it wouldn't be that big of a change, haha. Though she still does run around and jump up onto things and all that stuff so it's not like shes slowed down a lot or anything.
Well for the moment I'm "fine". But yeah if I need anyone to talk to about this I'll talk to you ._.

@DecimatorOmega well our cat doesn't really act like that ._. she still makes eye contact with people and doesn't do nothing but lay around. And the only time she runs off is at night to find somewhere to sleep if I'm already asleep and have my door closed because otherwise she sleeps in my room on either my bed or on my chair. I don't really like her sleeping on my chair because she sheds a lot on it.
But it takes like no effort at all to get any fur off of it if there is any.

We've only had to get one cat put to sleep. Thats because she had leukemia. And if she were alive today she'd be only about a year older than the cat we have now. She was also the only cat we've ever had that was at least okay with Midnight and whom Midnight was okay with too. Her name was Smokey and she was a grey and white long haired bi color cat.

Thank you!

<3 for you

Hey! Haven't heard from ye in a while. How are things?

Things are going well! Thanks for asking. I hope all is well for you too. I've been working on all kinds of projects some tiny, some big. You can expect at least one of the animations to be out before the new year. :) You staying warm?

I'm a bit cold...but I like it that way. Lets me know that I'm alive.
I still haven't properly watched animations you've voiced in ahahahahahahhahaha I'm so forgetful.

Kel is rad. Her work is pretty interesting, and while I've never had a large anime focus in my portfolio OR in my personal life, there's no denying that I've watched her seriously improve over the couple of years since I started working with her.

HEH TOO BAD I CAN'T PULL THAT TRICK. Also I didn't know you were brought on for the little Pine short. Was stoked as soon as I heard your voice in it though.

Yeah! I was happy to hear your voice too! You have such a nice voice to listen to, man. It was very smooth, a couple of my friends commented you have a sexy voice, and they're dudes.

Anyway, Kel is definitely rad. I'm working right now on a couple of things with her and I'm looking forward to doing characters where I can really play off my strength and bring them to life. Thanks for dropping by and saying a few words. :)

why

Because I love you.

what did i do to deserve that

Just being yourself.

Unrelated though, the photo in the news post with that girl going "Aaan" is pretty badass.

Eyyy Ann (if that's your real name *suspicious glare*), do you have any advice to someone who has absolutely no knowledge of voice acting but is interested in it?

lol funny, but actually Ann ISN'T my name, it is only my middle name. Piper is my name but it's already taken on here so i went with piperann. Anyway, I would say if you are interested in voice acting but have no knowledge of it, to begin by doing some research on the voice actor of one of your favorite cartoon characters, look into their history, various roles, voices, etc. Branch off and look at the other people's work, perhaps search for an online list of voice actors. if you're insterested in doing it for yourself and are serious about it investing in a good mic is very important. figuring out your strengths. And of course focus on your acting first and foremost. :) hope I helped.
